Thank you, folks, for advising me on this. Jerry Hartke's post is closest to
my understanding of the issue, and I think, ample justification for
returning the CD. I didn't even try to play it, for fear of introducing a
sticky mess into my CD player.
As for Lou Judson's statement:
"But why anyone would put a sticker on a CD itself is beyond me... was it
sold without a box or case or envelope? No sale!"
The short answer to the first clause of his question is "it takes all kinds,
doesn't it?" I don't think the E Bay vendor I purchased this from did
this... he probably bought it used from some store that does this routinely
with its used CDs. From my point of view, that store is basically rendering
its entire stock of used CDs worthless.
The disc was advertised as being in its original jewel case, and it arrived
in same. But the vendor made no mention about this sticker mess on both
discs. If he had, I never would've purchased it. "No sale!" indeed.
