Plus, Fairchild was there on Long Island making tape machines and I think Magnecord started up in
Bridgeport CT in the very early 50s. That said, I think all of the eastern record companies were
maybe a year behind the Westerners as far as embracing tape. ABC Network may have been a year or
even two ahead of NBC and CBS for embracing tape. I can't put myself in the late 40's mindset, so I
can't understand it. Was there also reluctance to start using electronic recording when Western
Electric offered it for licensing?
