I ran a 2" Ampex VTR in a truck for "instant playback" of the races and commentary for Premore a couple of times in 1974, but I'm sure they erased the tapes to reuse them. We aired "live" from our remote truck over the CBS local network.

Last weekend I came across an article in *The New York Times* about the
closing of Hollywood Park in Los Angeles.
In the interview with Kip Hannan, who is in charge of the park's media
production, he voiced great (grave?) concerns over the fate of decades of
broadcast materials. I suspect these historic broadcasts, if properly
preserved and made available, could have tremendous research value.
I am wondering if any here on the list knows of any follow up to this? Has
an institution expressed interest in these materials?
