Subject: Casting sound archivists for a sony documentary
Hi there! My name is Sarah Newman and I am a casting director in Los Angeles.. I'm casting a documentary for Sony and looking for sound archivists who love their work and the preservation of rare and valuable cultural artifacts. This project is near and dear to my heart, as I am lucky enough to have come from a long line of talented composers such as my grandfather, Lionel Newman- so any chance I get to jump into the world of music, I'll take :)
We're specifically looking for someone who would be interested in letting us document them while they reach out to one of the musicians whose work they've archived. Think an elderly blues musician who had assumed his recordings were long gone and lost to the sands of time. We would like to capture the archivist presenting the musician with his old recordings, interact, document the stories behind the recordings and let the musicians rediscover their work.
This documentary is sponsored by Sony, and features the Xperia cellphone. It's not for broadcast, and will only sit on their site for a few months before being archived on YouTube. We are looking to shoot the week of August 18th.
If you know anyone else who would be great for this please let me know, or have them email [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> ASAP with the following info:
-Picture
-Email
-Phone
-City and State where currently residing
-Please note where you currently work as a sound archivist.
-Any relevant website links or links to any online bios
Any help getting the word out is greatly appreciated, as I only have a few days to find our great story.
Thank you for your time!
All the best,
Sarah
