By the way, there was a photo published in the 1990's allegedly of an Everest session taking place,
with Ted Gossman in the machine room in Bayside Queens. The photo was published in Billboard and Mix
magazines, among others. This was not from an Everest session. I have the proofs including that
photo, and it was taken after Fine Recording acquired the former Everest studio. The studio was
being used the day those photos were taken to mix one of the "theater of sound" sequences for
Mercury's "The Civil War" album. That's why all the film machines are set up with little rolls of
film on them, including the portable machines. The narration/music/SFX sequences with Martin Gabel
involved many mixed sources -- weapons recorded at Gettysburg, ambient sounds like cavalry and
marching recorded at Gettysburg, music recorded at Eastman in Rochester, narration recorded at the
studio. This was all mixed into a stereophonic sound-drama at Fine Recording Bayside.

Chris Sanchez at the Preservation Sound blog put together a nice history of Fine Recording,
including details on Bayside. The photo described above, plus other photos of the Bayside facility
when it was part of Fine Recording, are included in the Bayside narrative at the bottom of the
posting:
http://www.preservationsound.com/?p=3939
The studio was modified/improved somewhat from the Everest days but was similar in layout and
equipment.
