I use a Technics SP-15. For 16" discs, I had the arm repositioned to give
me good arm clearance. Since my SME is mounted on the Technics tone arm
helical twisting base with considerable vertical movement, I had a glass
shop make a 16" 1/4" plexiglass disc and center it and drill out a hole for
the spindle to go through. Cost about $ 50.00. I take the rubber mat off
the turntable and place it on the upper side of the plexiglass disc. Works
fine.

Especially bad for vertical cut transcriptions if unsupported. -Mickey
