Greetings educators,
I'm writing to find out how your LIS school manages access to RDA for
classroom use. I'm currently working with the cataloging instructors at
GSLIS, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to determine our approach
to license renewal for the RDA Toolkit. With changes to the pricing model
on January 1, 2014, the program for educators that provided free access via
their home institution's RDA subscription has been discontinued. We
currently maintain subscriptions to several other cataloging utilities by
purchasing licenses for 15-17 concurrent users - which is usually
sufficient for our needs.
These are the new terms for Training and Classroom Access:
http://www.rdatoolkit.org/pricing
"To allow for training of future and current catalogers and other metadata
professionals who need to become familiar with RDA, we are offering access
to RDA Toolkit at special pricing. The institution must purchase a
subscription that matches its ongoing cataloging needs and then inform RDA
Toolkit staff via the RDA Toolkit Support Center
<http://www.rdatoolkit.org/support> of the number of additional users
needed for the given training day or class period. RDA Toolkit access will
be granted for that period to the additional users at a 50% discount. If an
institution does not yet subscribe, but wants access for LIS or other
training, the site license base price of $180 USD (or the equivalent if
purchased in another currency) will apply."
