Hi all,
I am teaching a course this fall on classification and indexing at the
University of Western Ontario and have been creating exercises for students
so that they can test their knowledge of LCC, DDC etc. for certain things
that we cover in class. There are some exercises in the text books, but
sometimes they want more practice which is directly related to what we did
in class that week. A wiki may be a good place for people to put example
exercises that test concepts like rule of zero, approximating the whole etc.
for DDC and different examples of using LC tables in the H schedules etc. I
feel like I am re-inventing the wheel when I go searching for examples!
Cheers,
Alison.

Heidi:
I have taught cataloging and other stuff as an adjunct, and will likely
be doing it again sometime soon. I've also developed a "Metadata
Standards and Applications" workshop for ALCTS and LC that I'm in the
process of updating, which emphasizes concepts that don't generally
appear in traditional cataloging courses (but should, in my opinion).
It includes a lot of material that is shareable and usable in a variety
of contexts, and LC has recently decided that they will distribute it
freely instead of by licensing.
A wiki sounds like a great idea and I don't know of anything like that
at this point.

I've been thinking about setting up a wiki for teaching cataloging that
would include adjuncts and any full time folks that wish to join. Do any of
you all know of such a think being out there before I leap in?
