On Friday, January 24, 2020 at 1pm, the Competencies and Education for a Career in Cataloging Interest Group will meet in Room 113-A of the Pennsylvania Convention Center. At the meeting, there will be a presentation on the state of education for cataloging, metadata, and information organization in LIS master's programs.
I, Professor Daniel N. Joudrey of Simmons University's School of Library and Information Science, will discuss the preliminary results of the fourth installment of my longitudinal examination of LIS curricula in the area of information organization. This presentation will take a look at how organization/metadata/cataloging/etc. courses offered and taught in LIS programs have changed over the last seven years since the third installment, as well as an overview of patterns observed over the last two decades of this study. It will be followed by Q&A and a discussion.
Hope to see you there!
