About AquaBrowser Online
Bowker is pleased to introduce you to AquaBrowser Online (ABO), a new
web-based OPAC solution from Medialab, a Bowker company. It offers the
basic search functions of AquaBrowser Library, a solution that is used
by more than 250 libraries all over the world. With AquaBrowser Online,
libraries with limited budgets now can use and maintain the most advance
web search solution that is available today at an affordable price.
Your Patrons will Love it
AquaBrowser Online provides instant access to the library catalog. Your
patrons will love to browse the collection again, to search and discover
new items. Today's patrons are used to having instant access to all
kinds of information. With AquaBrowser Online, people will be guided
back into the library.
Really Easy Installation
There is absolutely no need to change anything in your current library
system or the way you work. When you start working with AquaBrowser
Online, there is no need to download or install any software. All your
library will need is a web browser (IE 6/7, Firefox or Safari) and an
internet connection.
AquaBrowser Online is a completely hosted solution that we maintain for
you. No library servers are required, nor is there a need to have
library staff manage software upgrades and maintenance.
AquaBrowser Online FAQ
How is the set up process done?
Your AquaBrowser OPAC will be ready in a short time after Sign-up. The
catalog indexing and updating process is unattended and fully automated.
New catalog items are indexed overnight: there is no down-time and your
holdings information to your patrons runs in live, real time status.
Your AquaBrowser Online account requires no further attention on your
part.
Will the AquaBrowser site look like our own library website?
You can customize your AquaBrowser Online website with your library's
name, logo, color scheme, interface language (English, German, Spanish,
Italian) and a URL of your choice.
All AquaBrowser Online libraries get their own AquaBrowser Online web
address: http://YOURLIBRARYNAME.aquabrowseronline.com. They are hosted
on our secure, fast and reliable web servers. You can guide your patrons
directly to your AquaBrowser Online website. Or you can create a link
from your library's website to your AquaBrowser OPAC.
How does AquaBrowser Online differ from AquaBrowser Library?
AquaBrowser Online is for small/mid-size libraries or libraries with a
need for a standardized web based search service. It offers the basic
search-discover-refine design principles from AquaBrowser Library and is
tailored to their needs and budgets.
Larger libraries or any library who wants more advanced search
functionality (f.i. multiple sources other than the catalog, external
sources such as subscripted databases or the integration of authority
files) can purchase and install a full AquaBrowser Library product
license. And with AquaBrowser Online, you can upgrade to
AquaBrowser Library at any time.
What about privacy and security?
AquaBrowser Online never uses your patron*s personal data. It only
creates a search index of the library's title collection. Your library's
AquaBrowser Account is password protected. Our redundant,
state-of-the-art server cluster is hosted, secured, protected and
professionally managed by a recognized leader in high-end hosting, such
as EZZI.net, based in New York, or TrueServer, based in Amsterdam.
Cordially,
