   Please join us for the next in our regular monthly series of free
   Department of the Interior Library Park Ranger Speaker Series lectures,
   "The National Natural Landmarks Program" next Tuesday, December 18th
   from 1:00 - 1:45 pm in the DOI Library.

   The National Park Service's National Natural Landmarks Program (NNLP)
   recognizes and encourages the conservation of outstanding examples of
   our country's natural history.  It is the only natural areas program of
   national scope that identifies and recognizes the best examples of
   biological and geological features in both public and private ownership.
   National Natural Landmarks are designated by the Secretary of the
   Interior, with the owner's concurrence.  To date, just under 600 sites
   have been designated. The National Park Service administers this
   program, and if requested, assists landmark owners and managers with the
   conservation of these important sites.

   Please join NNLP Manager Heather Germaine for a look at the National
   Natural Landmarks Program and how for 45 years this program has worked
   with both the public and private sector to preserve our nation’s unique
   natural landmarks.

   All are welcome to attend, government and general public.  The
   Department of the Interior Library is located in the Main Interior
