VTLS will conduct a product demonstration of the VITAL institutional repository solution, which is based on the Fedora-Commons™ Repository Service. The program will be presented by Dr. Vinod Chachra, President and CEO and Heather Myers, VITAL Development Manager. The primary goal of the demonstration is to familiarize the audience with the advanced capabilities of VITAL and its application to federal libraries.
VITAL provides capabilities for (1) ingest, (2) creation, (3) maintenance, (4) validation with integrity rules, (5) identification with unique identifiers, (6) authentication and access control, (7) preservation through content versioning, and (8) export in XML-encoded object formats. VITAL can handle most digital content types including, but not limited to, text, newspaper articles, and multimedia.
