Coaching and mentoring happen daily when we work in teams or on larger
projects. Often the exchange of ideas flows in both directions,
resulting in innovative solutions and an enhanced work experience for
everyone. Formalizing these relationships benefit those seeking to
advance or change their career directions and often broaden the horizon
for more seasoned professionals.
The FLICC Human Resources Working Group has created a program to
connect mentors and coaches with interested and enthusiastic
professionals who seek support, advice and career direction as well as
specific, practical information regarding their profession. To launch
this program, the working group invites anyone working in federal
libraries/ information centers interested in becoming a mentor or coach
to attend an informal orientation workshop at the Library of Congress on
March 15.
This guided and interactive workshop will cover:
o characteristics of mentors and coaches,
o best practices,
o lessons learned,
o tips and guidelines,
o helpful resources
Both sessions will be held in the FLICC Conference Room at the Library
of Congress Adams Building. Choose either session on March 15: 9:30
– 12:00 or 1:30 – 4:00 session and please indicate which session
you plan to attend when you register.
