TITLE: REFERENCE LIBRARIAN/HISPANIC BIBLIOGRAPHER
RANK: ASSISTANT PROFFESSOR
POSITION AVAILABLE FEBRUARY 1997
DUTIES: Staff reference desk in library Public Services Division as
scheduled; plan and teach classes in library research skills; participate
in collection developmemt; instruct patrons in the use of OPAC, CD-ROM,
and Internet/WWW; prepare bibliographic materials. May be assigned as
needed to other divisions of Hunter College Library.
QUALIFICATIONS: M.L.S. or its equivalent from an ALA-acredited library
school plus Doctorate or additional Master's degree required; experience
in academic reference, electronic resources, and online searching
preferred; knowledge of Spanish literatures and fluency in Spanish
language highly desirable.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience ($29,931.-38,587). Liberal fringe
benefits. 35-hour, 5-day work week, including possible evening and/or
weekend hours.

Hunter College, the second oldest college in The City University of New
York, is a coeducational, fully accredited college, with a large and
diverse faculty in the liberal arts and sciencesand in several
professional schools. Hunter's total enrollment is aproximately 19,000
students. Of these, about 8,000 are full-time undergraduates, an
additional 7,000 are part-time students, and over 4,000 are graduate
students studying in arts and sciences and teacher education programs at
the Schools of Social Work, Health Sciences, and Nursing.
With a professional staff of 24 librarians, Hunter College Library
contains aproximately 840,000 volumes, 2,3000 current periodical titles,
and a nonprint collection of discs, tapes, scores, CD-ROM's, and
microforms. The library resources of Hunter College are available through
CUNY+, an automated library system which provides access to all CUNY
library collections.
