TEMPORARY POSITION
ST. CROIX CAMPUS/PROFESSIONAL STAFF

POSITION:       Librarian I (Temporary - 9 month contract)

STARTING DATE:  Open

DEADLINE FOR

QUALIFICATIONS: 1) Master's degree in library science or related field, from
an ALA
accredited school and two years of library experience or six years library
experience;

        2) Experience with automated systems and cataloging on OCLC;

        3) Experience with microcomputer applications and operating systems
including installation and troubleshooting is desired;

        4) Knowledge of telecommunication and the INTERNET is preferred;

        5) High degree of motivation and the ability to work with people of
diverse
educational and cultural backgrounds.

ASSIGNMENT:     Under general direction of the Campus Librarian, the
appointee
will perform routine library work, assist students and faculty in library
research, and acquire and catalog library material. Additionally, the
appointee will assist in the management of desktop and CD-ROM lab computer
systems, and other related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION:   The salary range for this professional staff position is
$25,430 to $35,729 for the administrative year, depending upon
qualifications and experience. Benefits include 21 working days of annual
leave, 15 working days of sick leave, liberal TIAA-CREF or Virgin Islands
Government retirement plan, and a comprehensive group medical, dental, and
life insurance program.

TRAVEL & SHIPPING: If applicable, economy jet fare to St. Croix for the
appointee and immediate family and a shipping allowance of up to $1,250 will
be paid by the University upon submission of original receipts.
