The Core Metadata Elements document is an historical one; the work was
developed as part of a pilot project in 1998. It has been superceded by
other work. We have added a statement on it to make this clear and deleted
the link from the LC standards page, since it is not to be considered a
current standard. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
