The MODS/MADS Editorial Committee is pleased to announce the appointment
of four new members:

* Gordon Dunsire, Consultant
* Reinhold Heuvelmann, German National Library
* Betsy McKelvey, Boston College
* Imma Subirats, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations

These four individuals are joining committee deliberations beginning in
December 2010 and January 2011. Welcome, Gordon, Reinhold, Betsy, and
Imma!

The MODS/MADS Editorial Committee is currently considering changes for a
new revision of MADS, which will be version 2.0 and therefore not
necessarily backwards compatible to the 1.x versions. Revisions approved
so far are posted at <http://www.loc.gov/standards/mads/changes-2-0.html>.
Proposals on the agenda for upcoming discussions include machine-readable
indications that a heading is subdivideable geographically and support for
a large number of new data elements introduced by RDA, such as content
type, gender, medium of performance, and form of work. As new proposals
are approved, announcements will be posted to the MODS list. Any MODS or
MADS users that have suggestions for changes should post them to the MODS
listserv for community discussion.
