It doesn't.  The hyphen is a display convention.  Keep markup
and content separate.  The display rules may say to for each
name part after the first, add a hyphen, before concatenating
the name part. Or other display conventions may be used.

A separate but related topic: there is a preceived problem
with AACR2, where they use punctuation to denote markup of
sub-pieces.  I understand why they do it, but in an XML
environment, the sub-pieces should be marked up so you don't
rely on display conventions to delineate content.
