Production Control Section at NLS
B. Joel Phillips, formerly of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in England, has been appointed assistant
head of the Production Control Section (PCS). In this position, Phillips will direct PCS staff in all
aspects of the production of audio and braille books and magazines for NLS. His responsibilities
will include preparing and reviewing contracts, assigning projects, monitoring deliveries, evaluating
performance, and ensuring that production stays within budget.
"Joel Phillips brings to NLS a combination of education and experience that will enhance our
present book and magazine contracting and production activities and contribute the necessary
energy and innovation required for our continued march into digital audio," said John Bryant, head
of PCS. "We look forward to his enthusiastic contribution."
Phillips earned a bachelor's degree in English from Yale University and a master's degree in English
from the University of Oxford in England. He was a world-tour manager with the Whiffenpoofs of
Yale, and later performed statutory audits of the financial records of businesses in the London area
for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Phillips most recently worked in the NLS Publications and
Media Section as a writer-editor.
He began his PCS assignment on October 28.
