Attached is a table showing the current warranty status of all recently produced
and/or repaired cassette book machines by model and serial number. The following
items are important to remember when processing machines for repair under
warranty.
-- Please read the warranty table carefully. There are _four_ simultaneous
warranty operations in effect.
-- Be sure to assess equipment carefully before returning it for repair under
warranty. If a machine fails to perform properly, the MLA must complete an
In-Warranty Defect Identification form (#FR153X) and include the form with
the machine being returned.
-- Do not return machines that have suffered extensive patron abuse or are
obviously infested with vermin. Report these machines as "damaged beyond
repair" to the NLS BPHICS contractor for removal from your records
according to established procedures. Ship these machines to Lodestar
Recovery, North Carolina, as directed by Jim Miller, National Library
Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Equipment Control
Officer.
-- Make sure that every new-production C-1 machine returned to Telex for
warranty repair either has its original battery or a new, unused one.
-- Be sure that machines being returned under warranty are directed to the
correct address.
Telex is the current manufacturer of C-1 machines and performs new-production C-1
machine warranty repairs __only.__ The address to use for Telex warranty returns is:

SWR, Inc., performs repairs on E-1 machines and will begin repairing C-1 machines
this year. The address to use for SWR warranty returns is:
