At Emory, I (as the NACO Coordinator for our library) am the only person who
reviews headings. However, I do not review all headings that we contribute.
For catalogers whose work is exceptionally accurate, I only review complex
headings (e.g. revised headings or new headings that are not straight
forward.) This system seems to be working for us and yes, I do sometimes
catch errors - both typos and more significant ones. As a result of this
procedure, I review less than 50% of the headings we contribute.

Subject: [PCCLIST] Review of NACO contributions
Penn State is re-evaluating its procedures for contributing Name
Authority Records through NACO. We would like to know whether your
institution has a policy that every NAR is checked by someone other
than the cataloger who created the record before it is
contributed. If so, do you feel that this level of quality control
is justified in terms of the errors identified?
