The rule [of thumb] is: supply information that appears useful in
distinguishing editions from one another and/or justifying added entries.
How you supply such information as this fits into "catalogers'
prerogative" as related to standard practice. The following options are
available:
(a) Quoted note stating source [e.g. cover];
(b) Subtitle (if info is on t.p.);
(c) Quoted note and authority record for a "series-like phrase";
(d) Series.
