Not really. I think all the parsers have an _option_ to generate
XCQL, which is useful for things like regression testing. But the
core function in most parsers is just to produce a parse-tree of
objects that you can easily walk to translate into your back-end's
query language.

Absolutely! How could it be any other way? The SRW editorial board
don't know what kind of data you have or what database software you're
using to manage it. All we can tell you is how to expect queries
against it to be expressed.
