Eric,
Use bath.isbn, for example:
http://z3950.loc.gov:7090/voyager?operation=searchRetrieve&version=1.1&query=bath.isbn=0136142230&recordSchema=mods&startRecord=1&maximumRecords=10
We also have an index called bath.standardIdentifier which includes ISBNs,
ISSNs, and LCCNs. (I know, it's not mentioned in the explain record.)
http://www.loc.gov/z39voy?operation=searchRetrieve&version=1.1&recordSchema=marcxml&startRecord=1&maximumRecords=10&query=bath.standardIdentifier=0844410462
