Dear AFC Board:
Very soon, we will have one congressionally appointed vacancy on our
board, as Bill Kinney's term expires in March. Dr. Billington has
sent a letter to Speaker Hastert, recommending that he reappoint Bill
Kinney to another term on the AFC Board of Trustees.
As you know, Bill carries much of our institutional memory, since he
is one of our long-term and hard-working board members. He has been
an invaluable help to the Center over the years and was a dynamo in
advocating for our permanent authorization. It would be a terrible
loss to have him rotate off of the board at this critical juncture, as
we are poised to put in place new initiatives that he has helped us
develop.
To those members who are private citizens, I am writing to ask that
you speak with your representatives and other members of congress whom
you know, urging them to support this appointment. When you all are
here next week, you may be planning a visit to the Hill, and this
would be an excellent time to mention this on behalf of the Center.
Thank you in advance.
I look forward to seeing you all next week. Have a safe trip!
Peggy
