As I review the work of catalogers doing BIBCO records, I do remind them
that there is an order to notes that generally ought to be followed, and I
have reordered notes in copy based on this order. But I also agree with
Bob Maxwell that catalogers working with copy probably shouldn't spend
much time reordering these things in order to upgrade the record to PCC.
Of course, if more catalogers doing original cataloger had been trained
originally that there is a preferred order, perhaps we wouldn't be having
this discussion. From the copy I see, it seems a lot of folks out there
are blissfully unaware of such an order, and simply record a lot of
notes in the order the information appears on a title page or other
source.
