The U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery School at Ft. Bliss, Texas has an
opening for a Supervisory Librarian (GS-11-1410). See vacancy

opening date is March 21 and the closing date is April 4, 2000.
Responsible for the planning, directing, coordinating, and managing
the operation of the Center Library and Air Defense Artillery School
Library. Supervises a combined library staff consisting of 5-8
civilian General Schedule employees and library volunteers. Plans,
directs, and supervises coordination of all library operations.
Manages and directs the library program involving a full range of
operations to include collection development and management,
acquisition, cataloging, reference, interlibrary loans, circulation,
automated data systems, etc. Establishes internal procurement policies
and procedures, fiscal and accounting procedures, facility management,
and space allocation for the library. Establishes library operating
policies regarding circulation, collection access, hours of operation,
etc. Makes short and long-range plans for new and/or enhanced
services. Establishes and maintains circulation and interlibrary loan
services. Defines the scope of library collection. Provides advice and
recommendations to higher management and decision makers in setting
library program goals and establishing priorities to support the
mission of the clientele served. Serves as subject matter expert
regarding library automation. Evaluates and recommends automation
projects and seeks technical advice, if needed, to determine
automation solutions to library operations. Plans, assigns, and
reviews work assignments on a daily, weekly, or longer basis to assure
an even flow and distribution of work. Adjusts work schedules in
response to changes in workload and other requirements. Establishes
performance standards and evaluates performance of subordinates.
Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Approves leave of
subordinates. Hears and resolves complaints.
