Agenda

Enclosed for your information is the draft agenda for the
2000 National Conference of Librarians Serving Blind and
Physically Handicapped Individuals to be held in Manhattan
Beach, California, April 30 - May 4. The conference will
be preceded by two half-day workshops on Saturday, April 29:
"Outreach and Awareness," 8:30 - 11:30 a.m., and "Machine
Review: How to Prepare for the Next Audit," 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Hotel Reservations

You must make reservations at the Manhattan Beach Marriott
Hotel by March 31. When calling the hotel to make
reservations state that you are attending the National
Conference of Librarians Serving Blind and Physically
Handicapped Individuals, April 30 - May 4. The hotel
telephone number is (310) 546-7511. Daily room rates are
$105.00, plus $10.55 room tax. A hair dryer, iron, ironing
board, and coffee pot with coffee are provided in each room.
A safe-deposit box is available at the registration desk.
The hotel amenities include an outdoor pool, health club,
whirlpool and sauna, and an executive par 3 golf course.
Rooms are available with either a single king-size bed or
two double beds.

If you have not returned to NLS the conference registration
form enclosed with Network Bulletin 00-10, please send it to
Mary Mohr, the conference coordinator, as soon as possible.

Travel to Los Angeles

Four major airlines service the Los Angeles International
Airport with connections through their major hub cities:
Continental, Delta, United, and US Airways. Manhattan Beach
is three miles south of Los Angeles International Airport.

Transportation from Airport

The Manhattan Beach Marriott provides complimentary
transportation to and from the Los Angeles International
Airport. A call from the courtesy phones at the baggage
claim will insure timely pickup. The Marriott shuttle
leaves the hotel approximately every 30 minutes on the hour
and half hour. Taxi fare from the airport to the hotel is
about $15.

Parking

Local guests attending this function will have special
parking rates of $5 for self parking and $7 for valet
parking per day.

Table for Shared Information

If you have brochures, bibliographies, handbooks, or other
materials that you wish to display or share with other
conferees, please bring them to the conference registration
desk. You may bring a few copies or enough for everyone.
We expect about 175 persons to attend.
