bernhard's comments are to the point.
apparently many people have grandiose
ideas about what a library catalog should do.
but there should be some agreement on that
before posing questions about MARC, XML, etc.
right now, few WEBpacs actually accomplish
mr. cutter's famous principles. for example,
try getting a simple listing of mozart symphonies
in LC's ILS. i don't think changing from MARC
to XML would help in this regard.
it would seem to me that some clarity of purpose
is required, before trying to get MARC or XML to
make coffee.
