We wanted to remind you of the satellite broadcast of the OCLC Users Council discussion on Tuesday at 11 am, hosted for us in the DC area by the NSF library conveniently near the Ballston Metro station. There is lots of room left, so even if you haven't yet registered for this free event, we urge you to come. Outside the DC area, there are many host sites at regional libraries.
We are especially interested in two aspects of this two-hour broadcast. Clifford Lynch, Executive Director, Coalition for Networked Information, will discuss "Libraries and Worldwide Access to Information." Many people always find Cliff Lynch interesting. Also, Bill Crowe, currently the Chair of the OCLC Board of Trustees, will discuss the newly-begun examination of the governance structure for OCLC. We are all stakeholders in this important discussion, and hope federal librarians will take an interest, to help shape the outcome to everyone's benefit. The agenda is posted on OCLC's web site, with a list of host sites around the country, at http://www.oclc.org/oclc/uc/20000523/index.htm
