I keep getting this error when I tried to open an EAD xml document in IE 5.0
"Required white space was missing. Line 1, Position 123"
Line 1, Position 123 refers to the end of this coding:
<!DOCTYPE EAD PUBLIC "-//Society of American Archivists//DTD ead.dtd
(Encoded Archival Description (EAD) Version 1.0)//EN">
Also, when I tried to run the document through SAXON I also received an
error message that read
" Fatal error reported by XML parser: expected ' " ' or " ' " (found ">") "
Can somebody help me with this? I ran the document through a validator
(NSGMLS) and it came through error free.
One more question. This time regarding XSL stylesheets
When I ran the EAD document through SAXON I used an EAD stylesheet that came
with the NSGMLS package and this message came up
"Error preparing stylesheet
At xsl:stylesheet on line 6 of file: /C:/saxon/instant/ead.xsl : not a
stylesheet
(the xsl namespace is not declared on the top level element)
What does this mean and how do I fix this?
I appreciate any help at all. You can reply to me on or off the list.
Thanks
Jay Gaidmore
