Index term: Magazine shipment list on the NLS Network
Library Services web site
__The Magazine Shipment List,__ currently distributed
monthly by mail and also available on the NLS ftp site, is
a compilation of three months ship dates for magazines from
various producer locations. Effective May 22, 2000, this
information will be updated daily and made available on the
NLS Network Library Services web site. The updates will
occur at 9:00 p.m. daily. The date of the most recent
update will appear on the actual Magazine Shipment List as
the "as of " date. The current monthly reports sent by mail
and available on the ftp site will be discontinued effective
This report will provide the most current and accurate
information for network librarians to effectively
communicate magazine delivery status to patrons. Please
note that the ship date on the report is for the final copy
mailed for that issue. If patrons call to report non-
receipt of a magazine, they should be advised to allow a
minimum of ten business days from the ship date for the
magazine to arrive.

__Frequently Asked Questions__
Q. What ship dates are included in the report?
A. The report contains magazine ship dates for the past
three months. For example, if the report was updated "as of
5/15/00", then all ship dates from February 15, 2000, to May
15, 2000, will be included.
Q. What should I do if ten business days have passed since
the magazine ship date and the patron still has not
received his or her magazine?
A. First, verify the patron's address information for
accuracy. Second, review the CMLS current microfiche
to determine whether the patron is active and whether
the patron's address and subscription are accurate.
Third, if the patron agrees to receive a circulation
copy, then the network library may loan its circulation
copy. If a library copy is not available, then contact
the appropriate multistate center to request a
circulation copy for loan to the patron. Finally, if
the patron prefers to retain the magazine, then contact
Production Control at (202)707-0547 to request that a
replacement copy be mailed from the producer. Be
prepared to provide the patron's name, address, and
telephone number, and the magazine's title and issue
