I've read several of Baxter's books (reviewed at
http://www.sfsite.com/~silverag/reviews.html and have presented him with
two Sidewise Awards for Alternate History (for "Brigantia's Angels" and
_Voyage_). His work tends to be a bit uneven, with some fantastic
works, others unremittingly pessimistic. Of course, I've also been
quoted on the front page of the paperback edition of Moonseed.
