Fellows and Friends,
** Digests **
As the membership of this list grows, so has the traffic. Some of you may want to consider the DIGEST feature, which will bundle your AMfellows messages into one message a day. If you want to try this option, here are the instructions.
Create a new email message with NO subject line
Address it to [log in to unmask]
In the body of the message type this: SET AMFELLOWS DIGESTS
If you have a signature box, disable it.
To set the list back to one message per message, use the same instructions, only change "DIGESTS" to "NODIGESTS" in the body of the message.
** Filtering **
You might also try another email management tool, known as filtering. Certain email software products offer filtering (among them Eudora, MS Outlook, and Netscape Communicator). Look for the feature in your email software's help file. I use Eudora's filtering feature and I love it.
Here's how it works in Eudora (others are similar):
First you create a destination folder. Then, using a fill-in-the-blank form (menu: special, filters), you choose something from the email message or header (for example "Amfellows" in the "Sender" field) to use as a trigger. Every time a message meets the criteria (Sender=Amfellows), it is placed in my "Amfellows" folder, unopened. When I go to that folder, I find all the Amfellows messages together, in order. On some lists (like AMfellows), I read every message and on others I just skim headers and read only occasional messages. Unfiltered mail goes into my "in" folder as before.
Later,
Betty
