Publication Report No. 00-04
Date: September 29, 2000
Subject: Annual publications order form
The publications survey that will be sent to patrons in
October will cover two years rather than the usual one year
and will list five catalogs, three for 2001 and two for
2002, some of them in more than one format. The catalogs
for 2001 are __Braille Books, Cassette Books, and Magazines
in Special Media; for 2002, they are __Cassette Books__ and
For Younger Readers.__ Because printing and production
costs have severely limited the number of publications that
can be provided as giveaways to patrons, costs for surveying
patrons in each of these years would be excessive for the
amount of information obtained. A copy of the survey is
attached.
The CMLS codes for publications that patrons order will
appear on your library's CMLS microfiche records. Libraries
can, as always, send transactions to CMLS to order these
publications for new patrons who did not receive the survey.
Transactions to add or delete these publications will
appear on your library's CMLS edit/update report. When
patrons receive their publications, the codes will be
deleted from the records by the CMLS contractor.
The library survey that will be sent to you later this fall
will list the same publications for library orders. It will
also contain a printout of your current amounts for ongoing
publications such as __Talking Book Topics and Braille Book
Review.__ Orders for such publications can be amended at
that time.

October 2000
Dear Reader:
Over the next two years, the Library of Congress will again
offer catalogs of recorded and braille books. This order
form gives you the opportunity to order these catalogs in
advance. The catalogs you select will be sent to you when
they are published. All the catalogs listed here will be
yours to keep. Since this form covers two years, there will
be no survey in 2001. This survey will have no effect on
your subscription to __Talking Book Topics or Braille Book
Review.__
