Graham:
Actually, the punctuation rules are in the Anglo-American
Cataloging Rules, 2nd edition, revised. (AACR2R). There is a common
misconception that MARC21 is both the cataloging rules and the
tagging for bibliographic data. The cataloging rules (including
punctuation) for subject added entries, corporate body and conference
added entries are spelled out in AACR2R. The MARC format is just a
communications format for the data as described in AACR2R.
