Elizabeth,
We were having problems with XMetal 2.0 until we downloaded the Update Installer
XMetaL 2.0 Update 1 xm2upd1.exe (1,070,698 bytes)
the error:
--Bad Markup Declaration. Allowed markup declaration types are: ENTITY, ELEMENT, ATTLIST, NOTATION and comments--
seems to have gone away and I have no problems editing in SGML.
When I work in XML I get an annoying error message
--Error in Document Type Declaration in the document: NOTATION redeclared. The notation name "email" has already been defined.--
I don't know what this means, but the XML parses fine with XMLINT.EXE.
Since I don't use XMetal for editing the XML, I've have not worried too much about this error message.
Hope this helps,

Subject: Evaluating XMetaL 2.0
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
When XMetaL 2.0 came out last summer, several people on the list mentioned
bugs that made the program less than useful. Have those been patched now?
For those of you using it, are you happy with it? We would like to upgrade
from 1.2 but need to know if there are still any outstanding issues.
Thanks!
