Michael,
How are you? Very well, I hope. After a lull of several months, I took a
1-day XML class at the local community college (and will take more this
coming week). Meanwhile, I'm trying again to display our test encoded
finding aid (based on your template for XMetaL), but I'm still getting the
following error message:
Error: Automation server can't create object.
I did download both the update to XMetaL 2.0 and MSXML3 (although I had no
idea where to put the latter on my PC -- I guess when you install it, it
puts itself in the right place in the directory scheme? The installed files
are now in the WINNT/System32 directory). But now do I need to make a change
to our copy of your ead macro for XMetaL? I see the part in the macro where
I might make a change (since the macro seems to be calling XT), but I'm not
sure exactly what to change. Taking another approach, I tried adding a
processing instruction referencing your #2 stylesheet to the top of my
encoded finding aid, and this time a formatted window opened, but there was
no text from the finding aid in it, and I still got the error message. Can
you suggest what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks so very much.
Marsha
