The CARL ILS uses 000,006,007,008 settings to generate 898 tags which are
indexed in a keywords file. At present, we have around 350 custom
"rules". Sites turn on the rules that meet their cataloging practices.
They often customize the text to make the term unique for precise searching
in tech services. CARL also instituted 006, 007 & 008 "fill in the blank"
buttons in the ITS for CARL cataloging workstation in response to popular
demand. I would say the 006 fan club is growing.
