If death, resurrection, and faith are all confinedto the area of religion
only, then these movies are very religious. But in the more usual sense of
a religious theme having something to do with a god and the people who
worship that god, I don't see anything particularly religious in the movies
you cite.
"The Seventh Seal" is a religious fantasy movie (there isn't much in the
way of science about it, let alone science fiction). The story is based on
Biblical elements and there is a true Christ-figure in the movie.
But just because someone dies and comes back to life doesn't make them a
Christ-like figure. Jesus of Nazareth offered himself as an innocent
sacrifice on behalf of all mankind. People were led to expect his death
and resurrection through prophecy and revelation. To be Christ-like a
character would have to offer redemption for mankind (or at least a lot of
people) in the eyes of a god-like being.
Characters who simply die and come back to life would be better compared to
Lazarus, if people must fish for Biblical connections.
