I've just started working in a completely unautomated Universtiy Archives.
We only have a few collections with finding aids in word processed
documents, the rest are print only (in binders). Our accessions are all
in print form only as well. I want to migrate all of our files into a
relational database and use the database to spit out print finding aids,
MARC files, EAD files or whatever reports are necessary.
I've noticed that most of what I've read about implementing EAD, concerns
problems people are having generating EAD from the variety of systems that
they've been using over the years.
Given the fact that many collections want to generate EAD compliant
finding aids, my question to the list is:
If you had to do it all over again, what database system would people
start with?
