FEDLINK OCLC New Products Labs
OCLC has released three new products: OCLC ILLiad, WebExpress, and
the Cooperative Online Resource Catalog (CORC). FEDLINK is sponsoring
demonstrations and hands-on labs for all three of these new systems
and services. Sign up today for one or more sessions on:
OCLC ILLiad--a comprehensive ILL management system that automates
routine interlibrary loan borrowing and lending functions. It is ideal
for medium and large libraries or libraries that generate over 1000
requests annually, use multiple ILL services, and wish to manage all
of their ILL activity with a single interface. Offers online end-user
request tracking and detailed ILL statistics.
OCLC WebExpress--an easy-to-use service to simplify access to online
resources and make the library the center of information retrieval.
Its full range of resources provides access, via a single interface,
to Z39.50-compliant remote information resources like FirstSearch, and
to local databases such as the library catalog. It then links them to
resource sharing options from OCLC.
OCLC CORC--a metadata creation system for bibliographic records and
pathfinders that describe electronic resources. Through the automated
cataloging functions in either MARC or Dublin Core, librarians can
select and describe high-quality, verified resources, maintain URLs,
and integrate e-resources with traditional ones. Pathfinders are
consolidated subject lists with links to selected electronic and
non-electronic resources. CORC's automated tools help integrate and
organize physical and digital topic-specific resources into a single
location, without the need for HTML coding.
