NLS has been asked to announce an opening for a division
director, Texas State Library and Archives Commission,
Austin, Texas.
A unique opportunity to manage a unique library program.
The successful candidate will manage and supervise the staff
of the Talking Book Program. The program provides books in
alternative formats, including audio books, to Texans who
cannot read due to a disability. Staff work as telephone
librarians, in our recording studio, provide a disability
reference and referral service, and circulate more than
800,000 volumes annually. The successful candidate must be
able to work well with others, multi-task numerous
assignments within set deadlines, effectively administer the
program's budget, and serve as a liaison with affiliated
Library of Congress staff.
Position Requirements: MLS from an accredited program, 6
years professional experience in library or information
services, and three years of management experience including
supervision and budget. Must have enthusiasm and interest
in promoting library service for readers with disabilities.
College transcripts and writing samples must accompany
application. Position open until filled.
