This sounds like a book I remember reading as a child (1960s). There were a
series of books translated from the French. I can't recall the author, but
the first dealt with the building of a space craft which flew to the moon
and gave it an atmosphere using "heavy air" to make it easier to explore -
they had trouble making a workable space suit. The second was called "The
Green Grass of Copernicus", and was set on the moon. Searching the Internet
I can't find any references, though.

Subject: Juvenile Moon story
Recently someone wrote to ask me about a story set on the moon.
Here is his question:
"I read the 'moon in science fiction'site hoping to recall a book I
read as a kid in the 60's.The plot concerned an early use of
terraforming and the moon was given a light atmosphere. Can you
recall
any book like this?Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!"
I also would appreciate this information and would gladly add it to
The Moon in Science Fiction web site.

Thanks to everyone in advance.
