Dear Colleagues,
Two articles on EAD have been published in the vol.17, no.2 issue of the
_OCLC Systems & Services_ journal.
1. Kiesling, Kristi. (2001) "Metadata, metadata, everywhere - but where is
the hook?" pp:84-88.
Kris is one of the EAD founders and is currently Head of the Department of
Manuscripts and Archives at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center,
University of Texas at Austin. Her article discusses issues that currently
exist between EAD and Dublin Core.
2. Prom, Christopher. (2001) "Extending the capabilities of the EAD
Cookbook," pp: 89-95.
Chris is currently assistant university archivist at the University of
Illinois Archives, Urbana, Illinois. He shares his experiences in
simplifying the tagging process with WordPerfect macros and incorporating a
digital image linking process into EAD Cookbook routine.
In addition, the editorial of this issue, "EAD: a true machine-readable
encoding standard for archivist," also covers EAD development history, use
of EAD, and the future of EAD. I hope you will find these articles useful.
_OCLC Systems & Services_ is a refereed and quarterly publication with an
international readership. EAD is one of this journal's focuses. If you are
interested in contributing articles on this topic, please feel free to
contact me.
