We do have a weeding policy(Appendix B) as part of our overall collection development policy. Unfortunately we have not been able to do in systematic weeding in about 3 years. We are currently updating our policy in light of the availability of electronic information. I hope this will be of some assistance to you.

Subject: Weeding criteria
Dear Library Network Colleagues,
The EPA Headquarters Library, in anticipation of moving to the new Agency
headquarters at the Federal Triangle next year, is preparing to weed the
monograph collection.
We would appreciate hearing from any and all of you regarding the criteria
you use to weed your collections and any formal policies you may have in
place for guiding weeding and retention decisions. Please be as specific
as possible. For example, if "currency" or the age of the item is a
determining factor, what kind of cutoff date do you use and why? Also, how
often do you thoroughly weed your monographs (or when was it last done in
your library?) All suggestions and input will be gratefully received.
I will be happy to synthesize the responses to share with the network.
Thanks in advance for your input!
