No, they are not optional elements.
Our Response Schema (call it RS1) will be the base schema. Janifer's thin
client schema (call it RS2) will be a new schema will all the elements from
RS1 plus some new ones. Those new elements do not become optional elements
in RS1. The new elements are probably not even optional in RS2.
The client needs to be able to specify if they want Response schema RS1 or
RS2.
