FLICC Information Alert 2001-6
TO: FLICC and FEDLINK Members
FROM: Susan M. Tarr, Executive Director, FLICC
SUBJECT: Corporate Portals--The Next Generation of Desktop Computing
Portals are fast becoming an essential component of every agency's
information strategy. Creating a dynamic presence for your library
and
information center and finding the right tools to build an
accessible
portal can be challenging. At the Delphi Group's two-day Corporate
Portals: The Next Generation of Desktop Computing seminar, attendees
will gain a complete and thorough understanding of portals, hear
detailed case studies and see demonstrations of leading
applications,
and review the opportunities and challenges of developing portals.
Immediately following the seminar is the Portal Design and
Development
Forum, a one-day intensive session on portal implementation. For
detailed information on the seminar sessions, point your browser to
the Delphi Group's page:
http://www.delphigroup.com/events/portal-seminar/.
FEDLINK has arranged for a network discount with the Delphi Group
for
federal library staff members to attend these events at the Hyatt
Regency Reston, Virginia, on November 14-16, 2001. FEDLINK will be
handling the registration for FEDLINK members and offering a
discounted price of $650 per attendee for the two-day Corporate
Portal
event (November 14-15) and $950 for the two-day event plus the third
day development forum (November 14-16)--a savings of $340 and $440,
respectively, off the regular price.
FEDLINK members with an existing FEDLINK Training (FT) account may
bill registration fees to that account. To use FY2001 funds, members
must have the funds already in their FT account to cover the
registration fees and must deliver their class registration to
FEDLINK
before the close of the fiscal year. Members who will be using
FY2002
funds will need to register with FEDLINK and open an FT account with
sufficient funds for the registration fees. Those without sufficient
funds in an FT account may register by submitting a standard
government training form or other billable document by the indicated
deadlines.
NOTE: To qualify for the FEDLINK network price, register online with
FEDLINK at http://lcweb.loc.gov/flicc/feveform.html .
To obtain the discounted price, members must submit:
* FY2001 registration forms to FEDLINK no later than September 28,
2001
* FY2002 registration forms no later than November 7, 2001.
