It is gratifying to see all of the traffic about extension schemas on this
listserve!! And I echo the good words of Bartek Plichta from MSU: the
meeting last month at Harvard was a big help to all of us. (Thank you
again, Robin Wendler!) Since we plan to start a new round of data capture
next week, we have cooked up our seven revised schemas, and will freeze
them until June:
(1) audio (big debt to Dave Ackerman at Harvard)
(2) image (NISO, sort of, but with some added stuff)
(3) text
(4) video
(5) descriptive (for the moment a variant on qualified Dublin Core -- read
the explanation)
(6) rights
(7) digiprov (another big debt to Dave Ackerman).
Get to them from this page:
http://lcweb.loc.gov/rr/mopic/avprot/metsmenu2.html. You will see
references to the Harvard meeting in the text and in some added notes in
the linked data dictionary. Comments and corrections much appreciated.
Meanwhile, for those interested in our in-development metadata capture
database, see the links from the "About Capturing" menu item here:
http://lcweb.loc.gov/rr/mopic/avprot/avlcdocs.html#md. Later, when ready,
we plan to make more tools and elements available for those who are
interested.
Best wishes from Carl Fleischhauer and the LC audio-visual team, much
aided by our contractor User Technology Associates.
