Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to let you know that the Michigan State group is working on the
METS extension schemas for video and still images. The draft versions of
those should be finished soon and will be posted for peer review. The still
image extension is very much based on the NISO standard. While developing
it, we have decided to wait for the NISO draft in order to avoid duplicating
our efforts.

We are trying to model the video extension on the audio extensions that were
discussed recently at Harvard, in collaboration with AES, Harvard, and LC.
This meeting was very successful and we think that it would be worthwhile
continuing our collaboration on the video and still image extensions in a
similar fashion.

We also believe that the audio part of the video extension should be
"borrowed" directly from the audio extension, perhaps with some minor
adjustments and less descriptive and analytical detail.

Best,

Bartek Plichta
